Kazakhstan Advances to Asian Cup Semifinals
The AVC Cup 2026 continues in the Philippines, where Kazakhstan’s women's national volleyball team faced one of the tournament favorites, Vietnam, in its final group-stage match.
After a hard-fought battle lasting more than two hours, Kazakhstan secured a dramatic 3–2 victory (18:25, 25:19, 23:25, 25:22, 15:13).
With five wins from five matches, Askar Shalkybekov’s team finished first in Pool B and advanced to the semifinals. Kazakhstan will next face the runner-up of Pool A.
The other pool features the Philippines, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Australia. South Korea and Chinese Taipei have already secured semifinal spots and will determine their final standings in a head-to-head match.
It is worth noting that Kazakhstan is competing in the Asian Cup with a refreshed squad, similar to the Central Asian Championship, allowing several key players to recover after a demanding domestic season.
